What customers say about California Nails
The review excerpts lean negative, with four of the five rated 1 star, even though the overall Google rating is 3.7 from 126 reviews. A review from 7 months ago says the pedicure technician commented on dry heels, said gross while removing skin, and cut the edge of a nail after saying it was ingrown, which the reviewer disputes. A fourth review, about an eyebrow wax 4 months ago, mentions a five minute wait, waiting chairs that were a bit dirty and an esthetician who did not greet the customer.

0/5! I will never go back to this place. The guy that did my nails did a terrible job!! I am so unsatisfied it's not even funny. I paid $70 for this..🤦‍♀️. Today made 6 days that the nails were on and they all were lifting. From the day I got them done I knew something wasn't right because they were all on top of my cuticles, he didn't even file near the cuticles!! Barely shaped, and the nail tips that he put on were hanging off the sides of my real nail because they were too big. Honestly nothing about these nails were appealing. The shape was awful. I asked for gel x and The guys light barely worked (he said the batteries were dying.) So each time he tried putting my nail underneath it would just go off and on. The fact that they do people like this is just astonishing. When I get gel x it normally takes 1 1/2- 2 hrs anywhere else I've gone. This is for filing, shaping, the light, and everything else in between. he took about 30minutes...

This was my first time visiting the salon and I received a phenomenal job from one of the ladies who I asked the name of before I left just because of how great of an experience I had. Kayla did my pedicure and I had the deluxe service done. The massage with the scrub and the lotion was amazing and she also took her time and was very careful with her work. The salon was quiet whenever I was there and I didn't feel rushed to get out of there either so it was nice. I enjoyed using the massage chair while I was getting my toes done as well. Definitely thinking about coming back again.

I stopped in on Saturday for a simple eyebrow wax because my usual salon had a longer wait than expected. When I arrived, I was greeted by who I believe was the owner and told there would only be a five-minute wait, which was perfectly fine. The waiting area chairs were a bit dirty, but I overlooked it. When the esthetician came to get me, she didn’t greet me or even get my attention. The owner actually had to tell me she was ready because she never spoke to me. On the way to the room, she didn’t say a single word, only pointed to the door and chair. While it wasn’t the most welcoming experience, I understand people have busy days, so I didn’t think much of it. The real problem started during the wax. The wax felt extremely hot from the very first application. At first, I assumed it had just been sitting unused for a while. However, as the service continued, it remained painfully hot. I finally told her it was too hot, and she laughed and muttered, “Hot?” Even after I expressed my concern, she made no effort to cool the wax before applying it. She continued using it, and I was burned several more times. I visibly reacted to the pain and spoke up again, but nothing changed. I also told her I wanted my eyebrows to just be cleaned up and not dramatically taken down in length or shape, she did not listen and just brushed my comments off and continued with the rushed service. I also heard her scraping the wax warmer, as if she was using the very last bit of wax available. When she finished, she showed me my eyebrows and I said they looked okay. However, I wear glasses and couldn’t see them clearly at that moment. As I was about to pay, I felt an intense burning sensation and had to step into the bathroom to look more closely. That’s when I noticed my eyebrows seemed to be uneven and my skin appeared burned. After paying, I went to my car and inspected them further. I returned to the salon to express my concerns. The owner called the esthetician over, and I explained that I believed I had been burned. She attempted to apply alcohol to the affected areas and insisted that what I was seeing was leftover wax. I immediately stopped her because alcohol should not be applied to burns—it is painful and can further irritate damaged skin. Another employee suggested baby oil, which was applied, and then the esthetician simply walked away. The owner came over while helping another customer and seemed annoyed. He told me he didn’t know what I wanted him to do, that some people’s skin is sensitive, and that the marks would disappear within a few hours. I wasn’t asking for a refund. The service was completed, and it only cost about $15–$16. What I wanted was accountability and acknowledgment of what had happened. I’ve been getting my eyebrows waxed for over 15 years and have never experienced anything like this. Because the pain became so intense, I went to urgent care, where I was diagnosed with a second-degree burn. I even called the salon later that day to inform them of the diagnosis. The owner’s response was extremely rude and unapologetic. He simply told me to “do whatever you have to do.” Please ensure your staff are properly monitoring wax temperatures, not rushing through services, and listening when clients express concerns. Unfortunately, my experience resulted in uneven eyebrows, poor customer service, and a confirmed second-degree burn. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business!! The first photo is an hour later after my waxing and the second photo is the very next day after the waxing.

Last weekend I came to this nail salon for a full set and gel pedi. During my appt I noticed she only used one huge bead of acrylic per nail didn’t think anything of it. Thought it was pretty cool. But , My nail broke in less than a week. I called they said no problem I will fix it for you. I went there today just now and they made me wait 40 mins just for one nail to be fixed … the owner is super rude and took other clients before me even tho I signed in and came in first . So I left. I spent over 180 dollars for simple nails of course with a good tip. This place used to be a top tier place in Lorain. I have no apex on my medium long nails and I’m pretty sure more will break. I will not be returning. However, the pedicure was great and the lady who did them was very good n very kind.

Ive always done my own nails & pedi's at home. I came to this salon because I had a gift card but I would never come back. I had a pedi & the girl who did it made me feel like crap. My heels were very dry & she made it a point to show me what she was taking off & saying "gross" every time. She also told me I had an ingrown toe nail, which by the way I did not and she cut the edge of my nail off. She made me feel like I was the most disgusting person she ever worked on. She was extremely unprofessional, condescending & rude. Never again!
